Chapter 14: Born of the Spirit - Introduction

​In this chapter, we’ll begin our review of being Born of the Spirit.  Once we have been Born of the Water, we begin living a life of divine truth. When Yeshua departed, He said the Holy Spirit or the Spirit of Truth would come to guide us into all truth – John 16:13.

​What is the Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit is the power and influence that flows from the presence of God, the Father like the Light of Messiah is the power and influence that flows from the presence of God, the Son – Yehovah-Yeshua. Among its functions, the Holy Spirit is called a Comforter and the Spirit of Truth.
 
“But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father,…” – John 15:26
 
 
Guides Into All Truth
While the Light of Messiah helps man to know right from wrong, the Holy Spirit guides us into all truth.
 
“Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.” – John 16:13

Another important functions of the Holy Spirit, is that it is an element in the organizing of Yeshua’s testimony along with the Father and the Son that we have seen before and will expand in future chapters.

​​The Law and the Holy Spirit
There are so many versions of what God’s truth is – how does one know where to begin. Fortunately, Yehovah-Yeshua provided us with a concrete start through His Law, Covenants, and Commandments as they are truth. Since the Law, Covenants, and Commandments are truth, they are an expression of the Holy Spirit – the Spirit of Truth.
 
“Thy righteousness is an everlasting righteousness, and thy law is the truth.” – Psalms 119:142
 
When we live and obey the Law, Covenants, and Commandments, we receive the Holy Spirit and we grow in the Holy Spirit and truth.
 
“And we are his witnesses of these things; and so is also the Holy Ghost, whom God hath given to them that obey him.” – Acts 5:32

​Recognizing the Holy Spirit
We can recognize the Holy Spirit when we receive a sense of peace and contentment.
