In the last chapter, we saw Yeshua establish a new covenant. He said that he was not abolishing the Law but declares he will make the Law full and complete – Matthew 5:17. So then the Law in the Old Testament – Tanach – is our starting point. Covenants in the Old Law When we review covenant theology in the Tanach as it relates to a relationship with Yehovah, we see the following -
THE NEW COVENANT Yeshua Makes the Law Full When Yeshua declared that he would make the Law full and complete, what He really meant is that He would connect the covenants in the Tanach with heaven and eternity through a change in the priesthood and His testimony of becoming reborn and recreated. In other words, through Yeshua’s redemption – a function of the Melchizedek Priesthood – Yeshua extends the Old Testament covenants that have been made unconditional and everlasting into heaven and eternity.
The Messianic Covenant We have already reviewed the Messianic Covenant with the section of being Born of the Blood. Here, we see that the covenants made in the Old Testment are extended into eternity through Yeshua’s redemption from eternal death because of Adam and Eve’s transgression and fall. We execute the Messianic Covenant when we take on Yeshua’s Name as the redeemer of all humanity Being Reborn and Recreated In the New Testament, we see three processes of rebirth and ascension – Born Again, Going Onto Perfection and Obtaining God’s Power. Born Again The process of being Born Again is to become a new creation of the Holy Spirit. Those who are Born Again will usually experience being persecuted as their test of faith. The covenants that we can associate with being reborn include -
Going Onto Perfection The process of Going Onto Perfection is to become a new creation of the Son as a proxy savior, which is associated with the Davidic Covenant. These will suffer near death as their test of faith.
Obtaining God’s Power Those who obtain God’s power do the work and will of the Father, are tried in all things, and receive the power to bind and seal with heaven.
Ascension is Cumulative Ascending to God is a cumulative path. We first must be Born Again to Go Onto Perfection. Then to Obtain God’s Power, we must have Gone Onto Perfection
