In the last chapter, we introduced the concept of Married Exaltation, which is our next stage of ascension as we strive to be more like God. The process we see here of transformation is Going Onto Perfection that the Apostle Paul introduces in the sixth chapter of Hebrews. Moreover, in chapter six, we’ll review the two examples of perfection in Abraham and Yeshua as our models of ascension for those who ascend into Married Exaltation. The Process of Perfection Our Process of Perfection looks like this:
Going Onto Perfection The Apostle Paul opens chapter six of Hebrews counseling Judah to lay aside the first principles and to Go Onto Perfection. “Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God, Of the doctrine of baptisms, and of laying on of hands, and of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment.” v. 1,2 We can compare these concepts with our previous stage of Individual Salvation.
Perfect Men Some may think that becoming perfect is an impossible task, but the scriptures cite examples where persons have achieved perfection. First, there is Enoch who walked with God and God took him - Gen. 5:24. Next we have Noah - These are the generations of Noah: Noah was a just man and perfect in his generations, and Noah walked with God - Gen. 6:9. God commanded Abraham (and Sarah) to be perfect - Gen. 17:1, and then Abraham became perfect culminating in God making an everlasting covenant with him. Job is another example of perfection. Of Job, the scriptures read, "There was a man in the land of Uz, whose name was Job; and that man was perfect and upright, and one that feared God and eschewed evil." - Job 1:1. Another example of perfection is Melchizedek (aka Shem), whom the scriptures call a King of Righteousness and a King of Peace, who became like the Son of God - Hebrews 7. And also, Jehovah/Yeshua’s Endtime Servant David also falls into this category as a just man made perfect. Melchizedek was made "Like the Son of God" Abraham’s Perfection and Married Exaltation In verses 13 through 15 of chapter six, we see that Abraham received great promises, but these promises were due to Abraham’s perfection. God commanded Abraham to be perfect – Genesis 17:1. Abraham’s obedience and loyalty to God reaches an apex when God asks Abraham to give to Him his only son. From this act, God makes His promises to Abram and Sarai unconditional and changes their names to Abraham and Sarah. The promises Abraham received by and large are all connected to Abraham’s posterity, but posterity requires a man and a woman. Here we see Abram and Sarai ascend together as both of their names are changed indicating a new status. God declared in the Garden that man is incomplete without a woman and a woman is incomplete without a man. They together form a complete wholeness/fullness – Genesis 2:24 Abraham’s Perfection and the Law Many commentors assert that Abraham did not have the Law given to Moses. This assertion just isn’t true for the following reasons. 1.The knowledge of good and evil was commonly understood in Genesis and did not require elaboration. This knowledge was passed down from Adam and Eve who received a knowledge of good and evil as a result of their partaking of the tree of knowledge of good and evil. 2. Abraham would have to have a knowledge of good and evil to be perfect. So would have all the righteous men in Genesis. 3.We see that the knowledge of good and evil was set out in the Law that Moses gave to Israel. - Deu. 30:15,16 “See, I have set before thee this day life and good, and death and evil; In that I command thee this day to love the Lord thy God, to walk in his ways, and to keep his commandments and his statutes and his judgments, that thou mayest live and multiply: and the Lord thy God shall bless thee in the land whither thou goest to possess it.” 4. We have indications in Genesis that the Law was understood. Abel offered the firstlings of his flocks to God. Noah had a knowledge of clean and unclean animals. Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob all offered memorial sacrifices. These memorial sacrifices were expanded because of Israel’s disobedience. Abraham dedicated his firstborn with Sarah to God - Isaac. Abraham’s Relationship with Yehovah Because of Abraham’s righteousness, he had a more intimate relationship with Yehovah and received greater direction from Him. Judah Commanded to do the Works of Abraham
In the New Testament, we see Yeshua command Judah to do the works of Abraham, which would include reaching Abraham’s perfection. “They answered and said unto him, Abraham is our father. Jesus saith unto them, If ye were Abraham’s children, ye would do the works of Abraham.” John 8:39 Perfection and Proxy Salvation Integral with Perfection is Proxy Salvation. In order to be a suitable proxy for salvation, the sacrifice must be perfect without blemish. This is the concept that we see in righteous men. Noah was perfect and saved his family from the flood. Abraham was perfect and saved Lot from the destruction of Sodom. (We'll see again the importance of proxy deliverers during the Entimes destruction) Yeshua’s Perfection In verse 20 of chapter six, we see that Yeshua as an example of perfection expands the concept of perfection. When we look at Yeshua’s testimony/gospel, we see three primary concepts -overcoming sin, receiving a fullness of knowledge and becoming perfect as His father is perfect. We’ll go into more detail in the next chapter on Exaltation.
