In this chapter, we’ll expand our review of the Davidic Covenant. We’ll compare the Davidic Covenant with the Near-East Suzerian-Vassel treaty model and then use this model as a basis to apply the Law of the Son and the Law of the Father

Savior Roles Under the Davidic Covenant
When Israel’s collective covenant – the Sinai Covenant/Israel’s law code - failed to protect Israel, God added the Davidic Covenant.

Dr. Gileadi,
“When the people grew careless in keeping [Yehovah] commandments, therefore – when “every man did what was right in his own eyes” (Judges 17:6) – God’s protection failed.”
“The great type of a deliverer, however, in whom all ancient savior roles converged, was King David. The Davidic Covenant, the covenant God made individually with Israel’s king, became a legal framework in which the savior role was recognized by God and people alike as filling the need for Israel’s protection.”


God’s Sons/Servants and the Davidic Covenant
God's Sons/Servants enter into the Davidic Covenant to function as saviors to God's people.

Dr. Gileadi,
“God’s sons/servants follow the type of King David by demonstrating “loyalty” to God and “compliance” with his will in keeping the terms of God’s individual covenant. By honoring his covenant relationship with God, David became his “son” and “servant.” (Psalms 2:6–7; 89:3, 20.) So do all who ascend to the second level of blessedness. Like King David, and also earlier types, God’s endtime sons/servants secure divine protection for those to whom God calls them to minister. They intercede on behalf of his people as they face dangers of different kinds in the “last days.” God cannot refuse the intercession of his sons/servants to deliver his people when they prove loyal and comply with his will. The covenant God makes with his sons/servants is thus patterned after his covenant with King David. Keeping the terms of that covenant is the essence of living God’s higher law [the Law of the Father].”
“All who ascended to the son/servant level and above would ultimately follow the model of David and his righteous heirs, the savior-kings who were themselves types of Israel’s future Messiah.”


Foundations of the Davidic Covenant
The Davidic Covenant is patterned after Near-East treaties where a vassal king establishes his law with his people. This same vassal king then keeps the law of a superior king or suzerain who supplies protection to the vassal and his people. 

Dr. Gileadi,
“Secular covenants of the ancient Near East resemble the Lord’s covenants with Israel and King David. We find resemblances between them particularly in Hittite and Neo-Assyrian suzerain-vassal treaties,” “Bound by the covenant, the suzerain guarantees to protect the vassal [and the vassal’s people] ….  provided the [vassal] remains loyal [keeps the law] to the suzerain.”​

We see these same elements mentioned at John 15:10.

"If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father’s commandments, and abide in his love."

Physical Salvation in Mortality under the Davidic Covenant
Yeshua is the perfect example of a vassal king who establishes His law with Humanity and then keeps the law of a superior authority - the Father – suzerain who provides immortality to Humanity under the Messianic Covenant. 

God’s Sons/Servants as Davidic Kings (and Queens) enter into this same type of arrangement but with Yehovah-Yeshua, the Son of God, as the suzerain who provides physical salvation in mortality but under the Davidic Covenant.

​Keeping the Law of the Father under the Davidic Covenant
Davidic Kings also keep the Law of the Father.  The Law of the Father, here, includes Becoming Perfected and entering into the Davidic Covenant, which covenant is also imputed with the High Priests office and Proxy Saviors - perfected men (and women) who through their righteousness obtain God's favor - which may include suffering for others disloyalties - and through God's favor obtain protection for God’s people.​

VASSAL God’s Sons/Servants

​Establishing the Law of the Son under the Davidic Covenant
Those who are Davidic Kings establish the Law of the Son among groups, which can include family organizations or communities.  Establishing the Law of the Son includes administering God’s civil and moral law, administering courts of justice and executing judgment. Here, we see that the Law of the Son includes the civil and moral law under the law code of the Sinai Covenant. Since presently there is not a dedicated land in covenant with God, God’s Sons/Servants establish and administer what laws can be lived.​
