In this chapter, we'll continue in our review of Reaching the Stature of Messiah and consider the office of the High Priest in the Melchizedek Priesthood. Here we'll consider kings and priests under the Law of God, roles under the Melchizedek Priesthood, sovereignty and the priesthood, and Yeshua's restoration of the Melchizedek Priesthood during His mortal ministry. The Process of Perfection Our Process of Perfection looks like this: Individual Salvation Born of the Blood Redemption Born Again Sanctified Born of the Water > Born of the Spirit > Born of God > Married Exaltation Going Onto Perfection Exaltation Becomes Perfected > Reaches the Stature of Messiah > Sees God the Son Priesthood and Ceremonial Law In a previous chapter, we saw that kings established and administered civil and moral law; whereas priests establish and administer ceremonial law.
Ceremonial Law Ceremonial laws include those laws that distinguish a believer in being pure or holy, which include teaching God’s law that we see was the responsibility of the non-kohanim Levities. Ceremonial laws also include conducting sacrifices, the biblical festivals, the purity and cleanness laws, and ordinances of redemption (memorials to Yeshua’s sacrifice), sanctification (baptism), and exaltation. Roles Under the Melchizedek Priesthood The roles of kingship and priesthood under the Melchizedek Priesthood become consolidated under leadership heads.
Sovereignty and the Melchizedek Priesthood We saw in a previous chapter that the Apostle Paul set out a chain of authority placing the fathers and really all men under God as the basic sovereigns of society – 1 Corinthains 11:3 – who are kings and priests. Moreover, we also see that those who lead over a community of believers are Davidic Kings and High Priests.
Yeshua Restores the Melchizedek Priesthood The Priesthood that we see in Genesis and in Exodus up to Israel’s sin with the golden calf was all Melchizedek Priesthood – Exodus 19:6. Yeshua restored the Melchizedek Priesthood during His mortal ministry – 1 Peter 2:9 – rendering the Levitical Priesthood inactive for those who embrace Yeshua's full testimony. Yeshua connects Humanity with Heaven/Eternity We see in the Book of Hebrews that Yeshua connects Humanity with Heaven through the Melchizedek Priesthood and the Tabernacle as a model of Heaven.
The Melchizedek Priesthood will be active at the Endtime Kingdom of God, the Millennium and Eternity.
