Davidic Kingship Part I

Thoughts on Davidic Kingship.

This week we’ll continue our discussion about Reaching the Full Stature of the Messiah and review Davidic Kingship. Yeshua/Jesus and His posterity are the rightful heirs to rule this world under the Davidic Covenant initiated through King David. Those who are the Seed of Messiah can either be literal or by adoption.  Those who qualify under adoption are required to fulfill the responsibilities of the Davidic Covenant along with Yeshua’s literal descendants. Some have suggested that Mary Magdalene was of Ephraimite descent and was Yeshua's wife.  This union would unite the right to rule followed under Judah through King David and the Birthright heir under Ephraim.  The proverbial Holy Grail!  As the rightful heir to the throne of David, Yeshua provides us the model of Davidic Kingship that was initiated through King David with the Davidic Covenant.

The Process of Perfection
Our Process of Perfection looks like this:

The Essence of the Davidic Covenant
The Davidic Covenant is patterned after Near-East treaties where a vassal king establishes his law with his people. This same vassal king then keeps the law of a superior king or suzerain who supplies protection to the vassal and his people.  Dr. Gileadi comments,

“Secular covenants of the ancient Near East resemble the Lord’s covenants with Israel and King David. We find resemblances between them particularly in Hittite and Neo-Assyrian suzerain-vassal treaties,” “Bound by the covenant, the suzerain guarantees to protect the vassal [and the vassal’s people] ….  provided the [vassal] remains loyal [keeps the law] to the suzerain.”​

VASSAL'S PEOPLE

​Yeshua is the perfect example of a vassal king who establishes His law and then keeps the law  of a superior authority - the Father - suzerain. Davidic Kingship for those who seek to be His Seed as Davidic Kings (and Queens) enter into this same type of arrangement.  The essence of the Davidic Covenant in the scriptures is set out at John 15:10, which we saw in the post of Reaching the Full Stature of the Messiah and which we will repeat here.

"If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father’s commandments, and abide in his love."

So, what we see in this scripture, is Yeshua as a Davidic King, who established the Law of the Son(His Law) among His followers and Yeshua who Himself keeps the Law of the Father.  So also, those who are Davidic Kings establish the Law of the Son among groups/communities and who also keeps the Law of the Father. So our table summary looks like this,​

Establishing the Law of the Son
Those who are Davidic Kings establish the Law of the Son among groups, which can include family organizations or communities.  We saw in a previous post that the Law of the Son included the process of  being Born Again and the Abrahamic, Threshold, Priesthood and Sinai Covenants.​

The People/Groups/Communities

Keeping the Law of the Father
Davidic Kings also keep the Law of the Father.  The Law of the Father includes Becoming Perfected and entering into the Davidic Covenant, which covenant is also imputed with the High Priests office and Proxy Saviors - perfected men (and women) who through their righteousness obtain God's favor - which may include suffering for others transgressions - and through God's favor obtain protection for those who transgress.
