Some believers of Judaism may think that Yeshua and the Melchizedek Priesthood is a replacement theology for the Law and the Levitical Priesthood. We know that this is not the case for the following reasons. 1. The only priesthood we see in Genesis and with the Genesis fathers is Melchizedek or the priesthood of the Most High God.
2. Moses received the Melchizedek Priesthood from his father-in-law Jethro. a. Jethro was the Priest of Midian. b. His second name is Reuel, which in Hebrew means a friend or companion of God indicating that Jethro had reached a higher spiritual status like what we see with Jacob to Israel. (notice that the name endings of “el”, which is the Hebrew word for God) 3. Moses implemented God’s power through the various miracles and plagues, which can be associated with the Melchizedek Priesthood. 4. Fathers in Israel sacrificed a male lamb at Passover, which is a priestly function. 5. The Firstborn of Israel were to be the temple priesthood under the Melchizedek Priesthood. 6. God told Moses that Israel would be a holy nation a kingdom of priests. 7. God implemented a temporary priesthood - the Levitical Priesthood – when Israel sinned. (When Israel could rise above their carnal nature and not break the Law, the Melchizedek Priesthood would be restored to all of Israel.) 8. Moses offered his life to atone for Israel when they sinned with the golden calf. This is proxy salvation under the Melchizedek Priesthood. 9. Most if not all of the Old Testament prophets held the Melchizedek Priesthood. 10. Israel didn’t rise above their carnal nature, broke the Law and lost the kingdom that Yehovah had given to them. 11. Yeshua’s teaching to be Born Again would enable Israel to rise above their carnal nature, not break the Law and receive the Melchizedek Priesthood. 12. God’s Endtime Servant will implement the teachings of Yeshua and establish the Kingdom of God on the earth by causing a people to be Born Again who don’t break the Law and who receive the Melchizedek Priesthood, which is the priesthood that continues into Heaven!
