Thoughts on Davidic Kingship In this chapter, we’ll review the concept of sanctification. Those who are Born Again have a new heart and new spirit, overcome personal sin and are a new creation of the Holy Spirit. We saw in the last section that those who are redeemed are guided by the Light of Messiah, but in this section those who are sanctified received the Holy Spirit. The Process of Perfection Our Process of Perfection looks like this:
Introduction Our go-to scripture for those who become sanctified is found in the 24 chapter of Psalms. “Who shall ascend into the hill of the Lord? or who shall stand in his holy place? He that hath clean hands, and a pure heart; who hath not lifted up his soul unto vanity, nor sworn deceitfully. He shall receive the blessing from the Lord, and righteousness from the God of his salvation.” v. 3-5 The Hill of the Lord and His Holy Place The very first concept we see in verse 3 is that those who are sanctified ascend the hill of Lord and stand in His holy place. As we shall see, those who are Born Again experience the process of transformation that enables their ascension to God - John 3:3. And, under the administration of the Melchizedek Priesthood, humanity is connected with heaven as we saw in the Book of Hebrews. What we should also see in verse 3 is a direct reference to the tabernacle/temple. Before the tabernacle or temple, mountains were the places where highly righteous men met God. Here, we see that same concept used in the word “hill”. The second concept we should see in verse 3 is that they shall stand in His holy place. Again, we see a direct reference to the tabernacle’s holy place. In the tabernacle’s holy place, we see the golden menorah that represents the perfections and presence of Yehovah.
Clean Hands The first requirement we see here for those who are sanctified is that they have clean hands. This is a direct reference to doing the commandments in the Law. The symbology of hands refers to action. But what we see with those who are sanctified in the Law goes beyond being a just person. The cleanliness laws symbolize distancing oneself from a fallen world. We also see a reference here not to bear false testimony. Moreover, Yeshua’s declaration that “If ye love me, keep my commandments.” – John 14:15 expresses the essence of being in a relationship with Him. Pure Heart The second requirement we see here is having a pure heart, which we can connect with seeing God (the Son) at Matthew 5:8. Having a pure heart refers to having attitudes, motives and desires that enables the qualities of charity – 1 Corinthians 13:4-7. “Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up, Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil; Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth; Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.” We also see here a reference to vanity. Vanity is excessive pride in one’s own appearance or achievements. Yeshua’s teaching on the Sermon on the Mount emphasized having pure thoughts and motives with keeping the Law, which we can relate to Ezekiel 36:26 to having a pure heart. When we compare purity with the being redeemed and exalted, we see this.
Receiving Blessings and Righteousness Finally, in verse 5, we see those who have clean hands and pure hearts receive blessings and righteousness from God. Summary We can summarize the concepts that we have learned about being sanctified.
