![]() Thoughts on Torah for Last Week. See our page on Spiritual Coaching: Numbers 13-15 This parsha is centered around Israel’s failed conquest to take the promised land. Israel’s rebellion against Moses and Aaron and failed attempt to stone them weakened their standing with God. So Israel went to battle without the power of God, did not enter Canaan and were banished to the desert for forty years. A new generation God would have to prepare for this work. For Endtime Believers, we will see a new conquest to take the promised land as ancient events repeat themselves in a new Endtime context. Another command given to Israel, was to make tassels for their garments as a reminder of the commandments. We will see how the wearing of tassels plays out in the New Testament. But before that, let’s review the Mitzvot/Commandments in this portion at Part 14 beginning at time mark 11:15 minutes– HERE Follow Me One phrase we see repeated in the words of the Messiah is to "Follow Me". This phrase could be counted as a commandment, but how exactly does Yeshua want us to follow Him. Some might interpret the command to "follow Him" simply to listen to His words and believe He is the Messiah. But what Yeshua is really saying is to follow my example by living a righteous life. And that righteous life is walking out Torah by His example. We can say that because Yeshua wore tzitziot as a statement of being loyal to the Law He gave to Israel as Jehovah. Consider this excellent video teaching by Steven Berkson on Matthew 9 and 14. Go to time mark at 29 minutes through to 41 minutes. An Endtime Holy War The prophet Isaiah sees a holy war in his vision at the End of Times to secure the Promise Land. Dr. Gileadi comments: Isaiah predicts that at the time Israel’s end-time tribes gather from the four directions of the earth (Isaiah 11:11–12), Judah and Ephraim unite to conquer their enemies: “They will swoop on the Philistine flank toward the west, and together plunder those to the east; [they will take Edom] and Moab at hand’s reach, and the Ammonites will obey them” (Isaiah 11:14). In that day, Jehovah again fights for them as he did in the past: “Jehovah will come forth like a warrior, his passions aroused like a fighter; he will give the war cry, raise the shout of victory over his enemies” (Isaiah 42:13); “‘Those who gather into mobs are not of me; whoever masses against you shall fall because of you. It is I who create the smith who fans the flaming coals, forging weapons to suit his purpose; it is I who create the ravager to destroy. Whatever weapon is devised against you, it shall not succeed; every tongue that rises to accuse you, you shall refute. This is the heritage of the servants of Jehovah, and such is their vindication by me,’ says Jehovah” (Isaiah 54:15–17); So far this is how our Endtime scenario is shaping up:
Isaiah Chapter 37 As King Hezekiah intercedes on behalf of his people Jehovah delivers them from the besieging Assyrians. These ancient events form a basis for like events in Endtime context.
