CHAPTER 6

Going Onto Perfection

Chapter six opens with an admonishment to Judah to go onto perfection/maturity. What we see in chapter six are different aspects of perfection, which we’ll present and expand. Then we’ll wrap up the chapter by looking at Going Onto Perfection as a process of transformation to  become a new creation of the Son.

Leaving the First Principles
In verses one through three, Judah is admonished to leave the first principles of the doctrine of Messiah and go onto perfection. The first principles listed here include repentance, faith, the doctrine of baptism, laying on of hands, the resurrection and eternal judgement. Essentially, this includes those who have been Born Again becoming a new creation of the Holy Spirit.

A Warning to Those Who have been Born Again
In verses four through eight, we see a warning for those who have been Born Again and have been enlightened and partakers of the Holy Spirit v.4, tasted of the Word and power of God v.5, received blessings from God v.7 and then who fall away - who can’t be reconciled by repentance, crucify the Son of God again putting Him in open shame v.6, are thorns and briers to be rejected, cursed and burned v.8.
God’s Fullness Awaits those Who Go Onto Perfection
In verses nine through fifteen, we see that those who have been Born Again are eligible for better things by Going Onto Perfection v.9, that you be diligent into obtaining a fullness by Going Onto Perfection v.11, Going Onto Perfection requires effort, action and patience v.12.

Abraham’s Perfection
In verses 13 through 15, we see that Abraham received great promises, but these promises were due to Abraham’s perfection. God commanded Abraham to be perfect – Genesis 17:1. Abraham’s obedience and loyalty to God reaches an apex when God asks Abraham to give to Him his only son. From this act, God makes His promises to Abram and Sarai unconditional and changes their names to Abraham and Sarah.

Perfection Requires Extreme Tests of Faith
The first salient point we should see with Abraham was the extreme test of loyalty to God that was required of Abraham.

Those who are Born Again will typically be tested by being persecuted (blacklisted, excommunicated, excluded, ostracized)  – Matthew 5:10-12.   But those who Go Onto Perfection can expect extreme tests of loyalty.  King Hezekiah suffered near death to save Israel from the Assyrian siege of Jerusalem. Job was tested by losing his health, his family, and his property. We see here that Abraham was asked to give his only son to God.

Endtime tests of loyalty will afford many of opportunities to ascend.

Perfection Includes Marriage
The promises Abraham received by and large are all connected to Abraham’s posterity, but posterity requires a man and a woman. Here we see Abram and Sarai ascend together as both of their names are changed indicating a new status. God declared in the Garden that man is incomplete without a woman and a woman is incomplete without a man. They together form a complete wholeness/fullness – Genesis 2:24

Perfection and the Abrahamic Covenant
In verses 13 to 19, we see the making of oaths to obtain promises from God or in other words by entering into covenants with God that establishes a relationship with Him. God commanded Abraham to be perfect and in so doing Abraham received great promises. The agreement formed between God and Abraham crystallizes into the Abrahamic Covenant with circumcision as the sign of the covenant. Indeed, Yeshua commands Judah to do the works of Abraham – John 8:39.
ABRAHAMIC COVENANT
Abraham
Yehovah
Commanded to be Perfect
Promises
To Have Numerous Posterity
Posterity to Receive a Possession of Land
All Nations to be Blessed through Abraham’s Posterity
Covenant Establish with Abraham’s Posterity
(Circumcision)

Yeshua’s Perfection
In verse 20, we see that Yeshua as an example of perfection expands the concept of perfection.   When we look at Yeshua’s testimony/gospel, we see three primary concepts -overcoming sin, receiving a fullness of knowledge and becoming perfect as His father is perfect.

Purifying a Lineage of Sin
Prior to his earthly ministry, Yeshua demonstrated his ability to overcome the flesh through three temptations. We have previous defined sin into three categories – Universal Sin, Personal Sin, and Inherited Sin. Those who are Born Again overcome Universal and Personal Sin. Those who achieve perfection additionally overcome Inherited Sin or dysfunctional behaviors that gets passed on – trauma received from fathers/others.

Receiving a Fullness of Knowledge
Yeshua declared that He is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. So receiving a fullness of truth is requisite in our quest to be like Him. Yeshua declared that we can be guided into all truth through the Holy Spirit. In previous posts, we defined this fullness to include the Gospel as a complex of systems and processes, the three grand keys of the Gospel manifested in the Spirit, the Son, and the Father, and a fullness in the occurrence of seven in God's truth.

Cultivating the Seven Attributes of Messiah
Yeshua declares in the Sermon on the Mount to be perfect as His father is perfect.  We can connect this command to Israel’s menorah that represents the seven attributes of the Son – wisdom, understanding, counsel, valor, knowledge, fear/respect and justice – Isaiah 11:2, 42:1.

Going Onto Perfection as a Process of Transformation
When we consider all of the factors that it takes to be like our Messiah, we can organize these concepts into a process of transformation.
