CHAPTER 10
Those who Remain Faithful in the New Covenant receive Everlasting Life
The main focus of chapter 10 is encouraging believers to endure to the end not falling away to receive Everlasting Life in the “New” Covenant. You may want to review Chapter 8, The New Covenant is Connected with Heaven.
The Old Covenant Doesn’t Atone for Sin
In verses 1 through 8 and 11, we see that the Old Covenant didn’t atone for sin.
The Old Covenant wasn’t perfect – v.1.
The Old Covenant didn’t cleanse the inner man or conscience – v.2.
The Old Covenant required sacrifices every year – v.3.
The blood of bulls and goats didn’t take way sin – v.4
God had no pleasure in the burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin – v.5,6,8.
Priests offered sacrifices every year that didn’t take away sin – v.11.

The Old Covenant required sacrifices every year – v.3.

The New Covenant Atoned for Sin
In verses 9, 10, 12 through 25, we see that the New Covenant atoned for sin through Yeshua the Messiah. Essentially, the New Covenant changed the method of atonement for sin from the Levitical Priesthood to the Melchizedek Priesthood and not a wholesale abolishment of the Law.
Yeshua came to do the Will of the Father to establish the New Covenant – v.9.
Yeshua sacrificed Himself to take away sin once and for all – v.10.
Yeshua’s salvation raised Him to the right hand of the Father – v.12.
Yeshua made all things subject to Him – v.13.
Yeshua made those whom He sanctified perfect – v.14.
Yeshua consecrated the New Covenant for us – v. 20-25

Born Again in the New Covenant
In verses 15 to 20 and 32, we see various aspects of being Born Again in the New Covenant. Integral with the New Covenant is the process to overcome sin by being Born Again.
Those who are Born Again received a manifestation of the Holy Spirit – v.15.
Those who are Born Again had the Law put in their minds and hearts – v.16.
Those who are Born Again will have their sins and iniquities remembered no more – v.17.
Those who are Born Again received a remission or cancellation of the penalty of sin – v.18.
Those who are Born Again enter into the holy blood of Messiah – v. 19.
Those who are Born Again are consecrated in a new and living way – v.20
Those who are Born Again were illuminated and endured afflictions – v.32
Those who are Born Again had the Law put in their minds and hearts – v.16.
Those who are Born Again will have their sins and iniquities remembered no more – v.17.
Those who are Born Again received a remission or cancellation of the penalty of sin – v.18.
Those who are Born Again enter into the holy blood of Messiah – v. 19.
Those who are Born Again are consecrated in a new and living way – v.20
Those who are Born Again were illuminated and endured afflictions – v.32
Remaining Faithful
In verses 22 to 25, we see admonishments to remain faithful.
Let us draw near with a true heart – v.22
Let us hold fast to our profession of faith – v.23
Let us help one another through love and good works – v.24
Let us not forsake assembling together and exhorting one another – v.25

Those who Remain in the New Covenant receive Everlasting Life
In verses 34 to 36, we see that those who are Born Again in the New Covenant receive Everlasting Life with the Son of God.
Those who remain in the New Covenant are in the companion of His bonds and have a better and enduring substance – v.34
Those who remain in the New Covenant cast not away and receive a great reward – v. 35
Those who remain in the New Covenant endure to the end and receive the promise of everlasting life – v. 36
Those who remain in the New Covenant cast not away and receive a great reward – v. 35
Those who remain in the New Covenant endure to the end and receive the promise of everlasting life – v. 36
Those who Fall Away are Saved
In verses 26-31 and 39, what we actually see in those who fall away and sin after they have been Born Again and received a remission of sin is that they are subjected to suffering for their own sins, are resurrected with the unjust and are shut out of God’s presence but they don’t qualify at the level of everlasting punishment for those who are destroyed not being resurrected like Cain and Judas - Perdition.
