A Constitutional Republic
Another connection that we can make between America and the Hebrew Bible is that both America and Ancient Israel functioned under a system of self-government known as a constitutional republic. A constitution is a system of law the limits political power. A republic is a government that represents the people through elected representatives. We see principles of self-government that include a separation of powers, elected representation, due process of law, and a common militia.

A Moral and Religious People
We also see this connection with a moral and religious people between America and the Hebrew Bible. Jewish rabbis and sages extrapolated 7 universal laws for a moral and religious people known as the Noahide Laws.

Do not worship idols: This prohibits the worship of any deity other than the One God. Do not curse God: This prohibits blasphemy or disrespect towards God. Do not commit murder: This prohibits the taking of human life. Do not commit adultery or sexual immorality: This prohibits illicit sexual relations. Do not steal: This prohibits the taking of property that does not belong to you. Do not eat flesh torn from a living animal: This prohibits consuming meat that has been ripped from a living animal. Establish courts of justice: This mandates the establishment of legal systems and procedures to ensure fairness and order. |
America’s system of justice was founded on British common law and not the law code in Deuteronomy.
Redeemed Man
Because of Yeshua’s triumph over death, these principles of self-government for a moral and religious people will endure in eternity.
