CHAPTER 8

The "New" Covenant is Connected with Heaven

In chapter 8, we see Yeshua bind His people with Heaven through the "New" Covenant. The “New” Covenant is the Old or first Covenant without animal sacrifices and judgements for weakness and sin, and perfection under the Melchizedek Priesthood.

The Melchizedek Priesthood is Connected with Heaven
In verses 1 through 5, we see that the primary concept with the Melchizedek Priesthood is that it is connected with Heaven and eternity – Yeshua was a high priest in heaven v.1, he made a sanctuary not of man v.2, his gifts and sacrifices were not of the earth v.3,4, Israel’s Tabernacle was an example and shadow of Heaven v.2,5.

Yeshua Connects the “New” Covenant with Heaven
In verses 6 and 7, we see that Yeshua mediates and connects His people with Heaven through the “New” Covenant, which has better promises than the first covenant v.6, and with no faults v.7.

Born Again
The most important concept we see in Yeshua’s mediation with the second or “New” covenant is to be Born Again. The process that transforms us from our fallen and carnal nature into a new creation of the Holy Spirit having pure hearts and clean hands.

Conditional to Unconditional
Initially we enter the “New” Covenant on a conditional basis until we experience the Baptism of Fire or a test of faith/loyalty that purges our carnal nature - then we receive the Baptism of the Spirit that finishes our transformation fundamentally changing our nature and hearts. We know this transformation is complete when we receive a manifestation of the Spirit. Yeshua received this manifestation when the Spirit descended on Him in the form of a dove.

Conditional and Repentance
During the conditional part of our transformation, before the Baptism of Fire, we are subject to weakness and sin. Yeshua mediates our sin as we repent v.12 during this conditional part. Moreover, fathers of families, as priests, are accountable and answerable for their families transgressions as they teach them the Law and the “New” Covenant.

Endtime Tests and Unconditional
Many Believers will experience the Baptism of Fire during Endtime tests. Endtime tests will afford many to make their relationship with God unconditional and everlasting.

Repent and receive reconciliation through Yeshua’s Atonement.

Carnal nature is purged.

The Spirit finishes our transformation fundamentally changing our nature and hearts. We no longer can sin.

We receive a manifestation of the Spirit.

We become a new creation of the Holy Spirit being Born of God.

Going Onto Perfection
The "New" Covenant also includes perfection and proxy salvation for high priests. Here we see the same pattern of conditional and temporary > an extreme test of faith > unconditional and everlasting. Existing leaders of messianic communities should rise to this calling.

The "New" Covenant Becomes Everlasting
Here we see that our relationships with God become unconditional and everlasting as we pass through tests of loyalty with God.

Yeshua’s Mortal Ministry Established the “New” Covenant
The balance of chapter 8 discusses various aspects of Yeshua’s ministry to establish the “New” Covenant.

The “New” Covenant is the basis for uniting the house of Israel, the house of Judah - and graphed-in Gentiles – v.8.

The “New” Covenant will not be like the old covenant that Israel broke – v.9.

The “New” Covenant will be put in our minds and hearts  – v.10

The “New” Covenant will be taught in every home under the Melchizedek Priesthood – v.11.

The “Old” Covenant and the Levitical Priesthood goes away, becomes inactive – v.13.
