​The Time of Trouble
Here is what Dr. Gileadi is commenting on the current coronavirus situation and the Time of Trouble.

"Many people may be asking themselves if the current coronavirus pandemic is that “overflowing scourge” and “desolating sickness” that are predicted to overtake the world as a precursor to the coming of Jesus Christ to reign on the earth. Although such a scourge is predicted to be “poured out from time to time” until the Lord’s coming, we are not yet in the “Day of Jehovah” the prophets have predicted, when God’s judgments come upon the world in full and “little of mankind remains.” (See Isaiah 24:5–6; Doctrine & Covenants 5:19; 45:30–33.)"
 
"As to all appearances, however, we seem to have entered the prophesied Time of Trouble that precedes the Day of Jehovah (Jeremiah 30:7), each consisting of three and a half years. Not only, therefore, is the coronavirus running its course, locust plagues too are desolating large areas of the Middle East, Africa, and Russia, while floods, earthquakes, droughts, fires, tornadoes, and pestilences are multiplying. As the prophets point out, it is the collective wickedness of God’s own people and the nations that are the source and the first domino may have fallen."
 
"Isaiah laments a root cause: “The earth lies polluted under its inhabitants: they have transgressed the laws, changed the ordinances, and set at nought the ancient covenant. The curse devours the earth, for those who dwell on it have incurred guilt” (Isaiah 24:5–6). Addressing the people of Ephraim and their reliance on the arm of flesh, Isaiah says, “Your Covenant with Death shall prove void, your understanding with Sheol have no effect: when the flooding scourge sweeps through, you shall be overrun by it. . . . It shall cause terror merely to hear word of it” (Isaiah 28:18–19)." 

Our Three Prophecies

The Fourth Turning
A time of trouble is associated with a fourth turning.  The authors comment:

"The Fourth Turning is a Crisis, a decisive era of secular upheaval" - p.3
"During each of these previous Third Turnings, Americans felt as though they were drifting toward a cataclysm." - p.5
"The Fourth Turning is history's great discontinuity" -p.6
"A Crisis arises in response to sudden threats" - p.103


The Book of Isaiah
In Isaiah's prophecy of America, this is how Isaiah describes this time of trouble.

"The waters of the lakes shall ebb away as stream beds become desolate and dry. The rivers shall turn foul,and Egypt’s waterways recede and dry up.Reeds and rushes shall wither; vegetation adjoining canals and estuaries,and all things sown along irrigation channels,shall shrivel and blow away and be no more. Fishermen will deplore their lot and anglers in canals bemoan themselves;those who cast nets on water will be in misery.9 Manufacturers of combed linen and weavers of fine fabrics will be dismayed. The textile workers will know despair,and all who work for wages suffer distress." Isaiah 19:5-10


​The Book of Mormon
And in the Book of Mormon, this is what is said about a time of trouble.

"Wherefore, this land is consecrated unto him whom he shall bring. And if it so be that they shall serve him according to the commandments which he hath given, it shall be a land of liberty unto them; wherefore, they shall never be brought down into captivity; if so, it shall be because of iniquity; for if iniquity shall abound cursed shall be the land for their sakes, but unto the righteous it shall be blessed forever." 2 Nephi 1:7
