Moses' Endtime Prophecy

This week we are going to pause from our regular discussion and look at Deu 30, which contains a key prophecy about the Endtime restoration of Israel.  In Judaism, the entire Torah is read during the year by splitting it up into 52 weeks.  Each of these weekly readings is called a parashah.  Deu 30 is in the parshah for next week, which I will be reading in Hebrew out of a Torah scroll during a Torah Service.  In this review, we’ll look at Deu 30 in detail, which fits nicely into the overall theme of this website - the Endtime restoration of the law.

The Spiritual Restoration of Israel
When we look at Israel’s latter-day restoration, we see a sequence of Israel’s restoration.  First, the Hebrew language was revived as a spoken language in daily affairs in the late 19th century. Language is one of the most powerful aspects of uniting a people.  Then, in the mid 20th century, we see the establishment of the Nation of Israel.  Our last and final stage of Israel’s restoration, which has not yet occurred is the restoration of God’s covenant with Israel.  That restoration is prophesied by Moses in Deu 30, which we could call Israel’s Spiritual Restoration.  As we will see in Deu 30, there is a direct connection between returning to God’s covenant and the Endtime gathering and restoration of God's Covenant People.

Deuteronomy 30

Verse
Analysis
1. “So it shall be when all of these things have come upon you, the blessing and the curse which I have set before you, and you call them to mind in all nations where the LORD your God has banished you,
When scattered Israel (and the mixed seed of Israel/grafted-in Gentiles), see the judgments of God come upon you in the Endtimes.
2. And you return to the LORD your God and obey Him with all your heart and soul according to all that I command you today, you and your sons,
That you repent and return to the law that Jehovah gave to ancient Israel.
3. then the LORD your God will restore you from captivity, and have compassion on you, and will gather you again from all the peoples where the LORD your God has scattered you.
Then the Lord will gather you from all the nations.
4. “If your outcasts are at the ends of the earth, from there the LORD your God will gather you, and from there He will bring you back.
I will also gather those who were cast out because they would not follow those who corrupted or rejected the law.
5. “The LORD your God will bring you into the land which your fathers possessed, and you shall possess it; and He will prosper you and multiply you more than your fathers.
I will restore you to the lands that I gave to ancient Israel and bless you with abundance and posterity.
6. “Moreover the LORD your God will circumcise your heart and the heart of your descendants, to love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul, so that you may live.
Those who follow the Messiah - who are Born Again, who are transformed by the Spirit and are purged of their carnal natures will love God and receive life through the blessings of the law.
7. “The LORD your God will inflict all these curses on your enemies and on those who hate you, who persecuted you.
I will protect you from your enemies by bringing my judgments on them.
8. “And you shall again obey the LORD, and observe all His commandments which I command you today.
You will keep the commandments that I gave to ancient Israel.
9. “Then the LORD your God will prosper you abundantly in all the work of your hand, in the offspring of your body and in the offspring of your cattle and in the produce of your ground, for the LORD will again rejoice over you for good, just as He rejoiced over your fathers;
I will bless you  with abundance, posterity and food, and I will find joy in you.
10. if you obey the LORD your God to keep His commandments and His statutes which are written in this book of the law, if you turn to the LORD your God with all your heart and soul.
These blessing will be yours if you will repent and live my law.
11. “For this commandment which I command you today is not too difficult for you, nor is it out of reach.
You will be able to keep my law.
12. “It is not in heaven, that you should say, ‘Who will go up to heaven for us to get it for us and make us hear it, that we may observe it?’
You don't need someone to get it from God.
13. “Nor is it beyond the sea, that you should say, ‘Who will cross the sea for us to get it for us and make us hear it, that we may observe it?’
You don't need someone to get it from another place.
14. “But the word is very near you, in your mouth and in your heart, that you may observe it.
Those who have been Born Again and are purged of their carnal natures will be able to keep my law.
15. “See, I have set before you today life and prosperity, and death and adversity;
You that keep my law will have life and prosperity.  Those who don't will find death and adversity.
16. in that I command you today to love the LORD your God, to walk in His ways and to keep His commandments and His statutes and His judgments, that you may live and multiply, and that the LORD your God may bless you in the land where you are entering to possess it.
You who keep my law will receive life, posterity and I will bless the land with abundance.
17. “But if your heart turns away and you will not obey, but are drawn away and worship other gods and serve them,
if you reject me and my law,
18. I declare to you today that you shall surely perish. You will not prolong your days in the land where you are crossing the Jordan to enter and possess it.
You will die.
19. “I call heaven and earth to witness against you today, that I have set before you life and death, the blessing and the curse. So choose life in order that you may live, you and your descendants,
I have witnessed before all creation that I have given you the ways of life and death.  So choose life for you and your posterity.
20. by loving the LORD your God, by obeying His voice, and by holding fast to Him; for this is your life and the length of your days, that you may live in the land which the LORD swore to your fathers, to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, to give them.”
By keeping God's commandments (if you love me keep my commandments - John 14:15), you will have a long life and retain your inheritance of land of your fathers.

The Restoration of the Law and the Priesthood
One of the more perplexing topics about the restoration of law is what is the status of the priesthood.  In the scriptures, we see two priesthoods - the Levitical and the Melchizedek - and which of these priesthoods will be operative.  Actually, in the Endtimes, both priesthood will be active. We can extrapolate from the scriptures that followers of Yeshua will hold Melchizedek Priesthood since He fulfilled that portion of the law that made atonement for sin.  Whereas. the religious Jews who have not accepted Yeshua will continue to administer the system of animal sacrifice until the return of the Messiah.
