This week in the Book of Mormon we’ll review chapters 11 to 14 of 3 Nephi. Last week we saw that the basis for temporal salvation was connected to the law that God gave to Israel, which is also true with the covenant that America made with God. In fact, all examples of temporal salvation must be connected to some version of the law because it is eternal. This week Yeshua expands our understanding of the law to include sanctification or the overcoming of personal sin. We’ll begin with an overview of the process of transformation, sin and sanctification. Then we’ll look at the first stage of sanctification that Yeshua sets out in chapter 11.

This week in the Book of Mormon we’ll continue with our Endtime theme. To recap, when we look at the Book of Helaman and the first ten chapters of 3 Nephi we see a type of Endtime events. In Helaman, we saw a restoration of the Law, the 144,000 in the character of Nephi and Samuel the Lamanite Prophet as a type of God’s Endtime servant. Then both in the Helaman and 3 Nephi we saw another Endtime type in the secret combination that seeks to destroy freedom, which is anti-God, anti-Torah. In this week’s analysis, we see another Endtime type of those who survive the destructions prior to the appearance of the resurrected Messiah. So this week we’ll analyze those who can be expected to survive the Endtime judgements that we see represented in 3 Nephi chapter 10 . This week in the Book of Mormon we’ll examine another aspect of Organized Evil. The Nephite government was established on the commandments, statutes, and judgments of God - Torah, which was the source of Nephite liberty. When the secret combinations took over, the Nephite’s were put under dictatorial powers and the laws of God were discarded. This new government under this secret combination was Anti-God, Anti-Torah. We see this happening as well today in America. The political left in America is bent on undermining and destroying the culture of America, which has been historically built on a foundation of biblical morality and liberty. Indeed, American cultural must be removed from the world scene so that evil may reign. This week we’ll see what the source is of this Anti-God philosophy that is coming to America, then we’ll look at Organized Evil in Isaiah's prophecy of America. This week in the Book of Mormon we’ll continue with our Endtime theme and examine the role of organized evil that seeks to obtain wealth and power through murder and control of the government. The Book of Mormon calls this organized evil “secret combinations” and is the reason we see a loss of liberty in the Book of Helaman and here in 3 Nephi before the coming of the Messiah. At the end of the world there is a showdown between the forces of good and the forces of evil. This showdown of the forces of good and evil at the end of the world is necessary to transition the world into a millennial era of peace and prosperity polarizing people between those who won’t embrace good and life through God and those who will. We are going to cover this topic in multiple parts because current events are directly related to this topic. This week in our review of the Book of Mormon, we’ll close out our look at the Book of Helaman. When we look at the entire Book of Helaman what you should see is an Endtime theme. The Book of Mormon writers know that the restoration of Israel and the salvation of Humanity rest on the realization of the covenant that God made with Abraham. Here in Helaman, God is providing a road map to accomplish just that as the Messiah’s first coming is a type for His second coming. Helaman provides us with key guides to prepare those who are called AND chosen to be His Endtime leaders who will execute this great gathering of the righteous at the end of the world. So this week, we’ll review our past posts on Helaman and consider key take-aways within the context of an Endtime setting and how Samuel, a Lamanite prophet, that we see in chapters 13 to 16 fits into this Endtime theme as a type of God’s Servant. In this week ‘s review of the Book of Mormon we’ll wrap up our analysis of Nephi’s ascension set out in chapters 5 to 12 of Helaman. Previously, we saw Nephi ascend to the Zion/Jerusalem and God’s Sons/Daughters/Elect of Isaiah’s Ladder to Heaven. This week we’ll look at Nephi becoming God’s Seraphims or His Angelic Messengers. The group of scriptures that comprise of this ascension of Nephi includes Helaman 5:36 when he sees God to when Nephi receives the sealing power in chapter 10. This week in our review of the Book of Mormon, we’ll continue with chapters 5 to 12 of Helaman. Last week we saw how Nephi achieved the Zion/Jerusalem category of blessedness that we see in Isaiah’s Ladder to Heaven. This week we’ll see what Nephi did to achieve the next level to become God’s Sons/Daughters/Servant or God’s Elect. The period of Nephi’s ascent to achieve God’s Elect started when he obtained the judgement-seat at 3:37 to when he sees God at 5:36. It is this group of scriptures from 3:37 to 5:36 that we will evaluate this week. This week in the Book of Mormon we’ll review Helaman chapters 5 to 12. Many readers of this week’s reading get drawn-in by the account of “secret combinations” that threaten freedom, but the real story that should catch your attention is the process of ascension that we see with Helaman’s son, Nephi. Nephi’s ascension to God is an excellent example of an ascension sequence that we see in Isaiah’s Ladder to Heaven. Nephi eventually receives God’s power to seal or bind actions with Heaven– the same as Peter the Apostle, Matt. 16:19, but what did Nephi do to achieve this blessed state. Since this is such a great example of ascension, we’ll cover this week’s reading in multiple posts. This week we’ll review the Ladder to Heaven that Dr. Gileadi sets out in his book Isaiah Decoded. Next, we’ll cover an overview of the levels of blessedness that Nephi ascends. And, finally, we’ll look at what Nephi did to ascend the first spiritual level of blessedness on the Ladder to Heaven. This week in our review of the Book of Mormon we’ll look at chapters 1 to 4 of the Book of Helaman, but we’ll focus on chapters 3 and 4 where we see that Helaman obtains the judgement-seat and executes his office under Torah law – 3:20. We also see that the Law is the basis for Helaman being prosperous along with the Nephites for whom he is the chief judge. The prosperity that these Nephites experience are the blessings of the Law or what can be called a covenant of life. What many people don’t realized is the Covenant that God made with Israel is two covenants. One is receiving the blessings of the Law or a covenant of life and the other is a covenant with death, whom God curses. So, being in covenant with God is not to be taken lightly. This week we’ll see how these two covenants play out with Helaman and his people, then we’ll look at how these two covenants happen in America since she is also in covenant with God. This week in our review of the Book of Mormon we’ll review chapters 51 to the end of Alma – chapter 63. What we see in these chapters is a recurring sequence of events that cycle into a repeating series of war and peace. These repeating events in history are called history cycles or cycles of history. Various authors have advanced cycles of history. For instance, Alexander Tytler is credited with the Cycle of Democracy, and Henning Prentis for the Cycle of Liberty and Bondage. Strauss and Howe in their book, The Fourth Turning, sets out a Cycle of Institutions and Individualism. In the Old Testament, we see a Cycle of Apostasy and Restoration. But here in Alma we see a Cycle of War and Peace. So, this week we’ll look at these cyclical events in Alma and consider how God will resolve these perpetual cycles of history. |
